Right off the start, Megumi Fujiioutclassed Serin Murray's punches. With a signature low altitude shoot, Megumi grabbed Serin's foot immediately going for an ankle lock. Serin rolled around trying to escape but it was locked in too deep and Serin had no choice but to tap. This fight was held under the regular MMA rules instead of Smack Girl rules but Megumi's strategy, the way she executed the 20 second demolition, just blew the rules issue out of the window. Her incredible speed and a keen instinct to capture the right moment for a kill, would work, for sure, under any rules.
So what's next for Megumi? Her comment after the fight was, "just concentrate on conquering the ADCC World Championship in May." However, one of her sincere wishes is to fight in the States or in a show televised in the U.S.. The biggest obstacle for her is finding an opponent. She is small. Megumi pumps herself up to 114 lbs. Anywhere in the world, especially in women's MMA, it is very difficult to find an opponent at 115 or 120 lbs & under who can compete against this former judo-ka / Sambo specialist, who is now 8-0, undefeated in professional MMA. Yuka Tsuji, a current Smack Girl lightweight champion, certainly can be her rival. Megumi vs. Tsuji would be a super fight in the Japanese market but who would be appropriate to fight Megumi at the world stage? I believe, at this point, the answer is crystal clear. Its Lisa Ward.

Lisa, on this date, cut her weight all the way down to 48 kg (105 lbs), and fought Misaki Takimoto, Japan's top grappler who has a solid tap out win over MIKU. But Lisa just completely dominated Takimoto. Standing, she nailed series of kicks and knees to the body, and at the end of the first almost finished Takimoito with a guillotine choke. Lisa slowed down a bit in the second. Probably from the weight cutting, she lost her stamina. Yet Lisa just overpowered Takimoto. She locked Takimoto's right arm in a kimura, then pushed her to the ground for the finish. There was a clear difference in natural strength. In the States, sometimes Lisa fights at 135 lbs & under and still maintains an impressive pro MMA record of 7-2. Her strength and technique are good enough to compete against a fighter 20 lbs heavier, and its fair to conclude Lisa is best in her homeland at 120 lbs & under. Lisa went down to 48 kg for this fight because she is thinking about a Smack Girl flyweight title held by Satoko Shinashi. However, it's apparent that her natural weight is somewhere around 110 to 115 lbs, and that would make her, probably, most suitable, perhaps a perfect opponent for Megumi Fujii, the most popular, publicly known female MMA fighter in Japan. The best in the U.S. squaring off against the super star of Japan. But is this going to happen in Smack Girl? The fans are already wondering who is better, between Megumi and Lisa, but no one is really talking about the fight between these two. Its a bit strange considering these two fighters were, obviously, a notch above everyone else in this show. Its only natural for everyone to talk about Megumi vs. Lisa. But no one is talking. I wonder why.
